Braemar Community Limited, a charitable trust established for the benefit of the community, has undertaken all the preparatory work to bring this project to fruition.
The project will be developed by the newly formed Community Benefit Society – Braemar Community Hydro Limited – which will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the installation.
Installation will be managed by the specialist hydro installer Highland Eco Design who have been awarded the construction contract on a fixed price basis.
The hydro scheme will occupy land which is leased from the landowner, Mar Estate. This lease will also cover all land directly associated with the project.
Braemar Community Hydro Limited was incorporated and registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority as a Community Benefit Society number 7076 on 3rd February 2015. The Society has been set up with three founding Directors: David Chandler, Alastair Hubbard and Glenn Perkins and is completely independent of BCL.
The Society’s Rules are based on Co-operatives UK’s Model Rules for a Community Benefit Society. .
Braemar Community Hydro is completely focused on the installation of this hydro plant and currently does not plan any further developments.
